Family Group Sheets

Family Group Sheets

I use the genealogy program, RootsMagic7.  I'm impressed with the format of Family Group Sheets (FGS) created by this program. Besides the usual information found in a FGS there are options to include name index and place name index. I can save the FGS in the PDF format.

I have a Box account where I have been uploading these FGS into Family folders. The reports are availble for Preview or Download to anyone who has the correct URL.

Recently I worked on FGS projects for two families:
  • Ice Family - 8 FGS, 61-pages
  • Tennant Family - 10 FGS, 59-pages

Tennant Genealogy

Tennant Genealogy

I ran a test report to see how much information I have compiled about the Tennant family.

With an every name index and a place name index I can currently create a Descendant Report of 1,686 pages.

Tennant Genealogy

I did a test run to see how many pages of information I have about the Tennant family.

The information is stored in one of my RootsMagic files.

A narrative descendant report includes an every name index and a place name index.

In general, my policy is to exchange information only with people who have done substantial work on recording their own genealogy and who are willing to share.

The current page count for the Tennant family is - 1571 pages.

Benjamin and Mary Edgell

From time to time I like to run a test to determine how many pages of information there would be in a Narrative Descendant report if I decided I wanted to share with someone.

The RootsMagic narrative descendant report, as I compile it, includes an "every name index" and a "place name index."

This morning I ran a test for the family of Benjamin and Mary Edgell. There were 1,411 pages in the report.

I'm willing to discuss an exchange of information with members of the Edgell family, but there must be a willingness to share in order to obtain the information I have compiled.
