Family Group Sheets

Family Group Sheets

I have a paid subscription to cloud storage on Box.

I created a folder on Box where I can upload Family Group Sheets created by my genealogy program, RootsMagic7. This Family Group Sheet folder has many family sub-folders. With the link shared below you can access the Family Group Sheets. Individual group sheets can be previewed online and/or downloaded to your computer. I believe Box works best when accessed via a computer. It is probably possible to access the family group sheets with a SmartPhone if you have the URL.

The family group sheets produced by RootsMagic include the Note field of the people listed on the family group sheet. Included in the notes are source citations, if I have them, Find A Grave memorial numbers, obituaries and other historical information. After the Note fields each family group sheet has a name index and a place name index.

Corrections and additions are welcome.

I'll also entertain suggestions for other family group sheets

I'm a very active user of Facebook which makes that the best way to catch my attention.

My Email address, which I don't check often is: Dick.Henthorn@gmail.com

The Fun of Sharing

John Ogden posted a Facebook request for a photo of William Henry Montgomery of Monroe Co., OH. I posted information about him from Find A Grave to my file. During that process I made a discovery and linked a daughter of William to the Jeffers, Jackson and Henthorn families that I have worked on for many years. Here's what I wrote to John Ogden. William Harvey Montgomery and Sarah Ann Stephens had a daughter, Margaret Maudena Montgomery, b. 17 Apr 1871 in Monroe Co., OH. I found her in Find A Grave. Here's the fun for me. She married James L. Jeffers, no date of marriage. He was born on 19 Aug 1863 in Monroe Co., OH. Surname is also spelled, Jeffries. I don't know if the couple had children. The paternal grandmother of James L. Jeffers was Deborah (Jackson) Jeffers whose grandparents were: Robert Jackson, Sr. and Mary Ann (Henthorn) Jackson. Some of the Jacksons became LDS and went to Utah. Years ago I worked on Jackson genealogy with Judge Norman Jackson of Salt Lake City. I met face to face with Norman a couple of times when he was in Washington, DC.. Dick Henthorn 18 sep 2018

RootsWeb Update

Here's a link to a July 2018 update on the status of the Rootsweb restoration project.

This is very good news.

I've already looked at some of the restored pages. I think those of us who used this resource are going to appreciate what a valuable asset we weren't able to access for several months.

Rule 18

One tool that I have found useful when posting Notes to my genealogy file is called, Rule 18.  It's free.

You can load as many as eighteen character strings into the Rule 18 application.  And, you can store more than one file of character strings.  The program runs in the background.  When you enter an appropriate CRTL+digit (1-9) or ALT+digit (1-9) the program loads the selected character string into the Windows clipboard.  Then you can use CTRL+v to paste the selected character string into your notes.

Here's the link to more information.

Lazarus Rine

As a Christmas gift I am sharing a 1062-page PDF (36.5 MB) genealogy of the family of Lazarus Rine with the members of my secret Facebook genealogy page.  I posted the URL link to the document on the Facebook page.

The file is stored on my Box account.  The link to the file will expire on 26 Dec 2015.  Viewing the file with the Box "preview" is garbled.  Once downloaded the file can be opened with the Acrobat Reader and viewed without problems.

I'm willing to share the file with readers of this blog provided that I know you and that we have a reciprocal sharing arrangement.  Contact me to request the link.  In your message identify yourself, provide your Email address and justify why I should share this information with you.

Clegg Family

This week I am doing some updates to my file that I call Charts.  I'm adding more information to the Clegg family of the upper Ohio valley.  I'm not sure how much time I'm willing to spend on the project or when I will be ready to share the results.

In the meantime, here's the link to a 51-page PDF for Thomas Clegg that I shared in the past.  I'm fortunate to have a copy of Cleggs of the Upper Ohio Valley that compiler Blaine L. Clegg shared with me many years ago.
