LAND: Extracts from the Stephen Conger papers in the Public Archives of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, [Canada]:
"Be it remembered that on the Sixteenth day of May eighteen hundred and twenty three 1823 Stephen Conger and John Conger oldest son of David Conger junr (my brother) did agree both of them and did actually plant a red cedar post marked 7 & 8 as a monument or landmark between Lots 7 & 8, first concession North, of the Carrying (Carrion) place in Hallowell the ancient post being down but the place ascertained to our mutual satisfaction.

"Present when said post was planted, Steph [sic] Conger, John Conger, David S. Conger, Benjamin Bristol, William Black (Blaik?) and Wilmet Conger."

"To be also remembered on the Nineteenth day of May 1823 a post was planted on the North side of Number 8 a red cedar post marked 8 & 9 by mutual consent of Stephen Conger and Thomas Goldsmith the then owners of Said Lots 1st concession North of the Carrying Place Hallowell, in presence of David Conger Goldsmith and David Stoddard Conger."

David Watson also appears on p. 542 of German Twp.: 1 male -10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 3 female -10, 1 female 10-16, 1 female 26-45.

Also in German Twp. 082-1810; 1 male 16-26, 1 male 45+, 3 female -10, 2 female 10-16, 1 female 26-45.


Census: 1820 in Monroe Co., OH, David Watson: 2 male 16-26, 2 male 26-45, 1 male 45+, 1 female 10-16.


David Watson in Noble County, Ohio

David Watson and family came from Fayette County, Pa., and settled in Noble County about 1810. Their children were: Ann, James, John, Rebecca (Delancy), Sarah (Williams), Ann T. (Morris), Rachel (Yoho), Cynthia (Wilson), all of whom are deceased.

1995 Family Reunion
The Watson Family Reunion was held on Sunday 16 Jul 1995 at the Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia, OH.


RESEARCHER: Belinda Fowler Watson furnished some information on the David Watson family to Denver C. Yoho. She probably published a Watson book.


BIOGRAPHY:
David Watson and his family came from Fayette Co., PA and settled on Gladys Branch of Seneca Creek, both of which now help to form the Seneca Lake [in Ohio]. They are both buried in the David Watson Cemetery, on their farm which is now known as the Patrick Bates farm. This David Watson Cemetery is located up around the Seneca Lake, a few miles from Cambridge, Guernsey Co., OH. There is also a old Jacob Yoho Cemetery which is almost surrounded by the waters of Seneca Lake. The Watson, Wilson, and Yoho families, when they first came to Ohio, all settled on Wills Creek Valley within one to three miles from one another. Found from this is Watsons married Wilsons, Wilsons married Watsons, and Watsons married Yohos.

So, what is true and what is made up about Indian Billy and his family, I doubt we will ever know for sure. Billy did have 4 wives and 16 children. His first wife was an Indian woman and he had a daughter, Mary, by her. His second wife was my g.g.g.g. grandmother, Margaret Higgingbotham. She was born about 1749 and was the daughter of Ralph Higgingbotham and Mary (Henthorn?). Billy and Margaret had 10 children.
